Tri Robben Island postponed

It was announced yesterday that the inaugural Tri-Robben Island has been postponed to the 22nd of September due to harsh weather conditions predicted for this Sunday.

Due to the heavy rain and wind forecast for Sunday, Robben Island will not permit ferries to run. Although the weather might improve, the organizers of Tri-Robben island cannot take the risk and cancel at the last minute, as athletes from out of town are travelling to Cape Town for the event.

The new date will fall on the Saturday of Heritage Weekend and the race schedule will remain the same.

Entries will automatically be transferred to the new date, and refunds are possible.

“We apologize for any inconveniences caused, but sadly we are at the mercy of the weather gods”, said Grant Kunneke, organizer of Tri-Robben Island. “We still hope to see all athletes at the event on the 22nd of September”.
