South Africa will be hosting thousand of tourists during the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup and the there will be those who will try take advantage of the situation.
W/O Petra Els fror the SA Police has drawn up some safety tips for tourists and locals alike to make sure we do not become victims of crime.
WHEN STAYING AT HOTELS, GUESTHOUSES ETC:
Never leave your lugguage or valuables unattended unless it is locked away in your room.
Never leave windows open or doors unlocked when you leave the premises.
Store your valuables (especially firearms) in a safe or a safety deposit box.
Lock your room when you are in it.
If somebody knocks, check who it is before opening the door.
Do not allow a stranger into your room.
Hand your keys to reception whenever you leave the room.
WHEN VISITING A CLUB OR BAR:
Never accept a drink from a stranger or leave your drink unattended.

Do not drink and drive. Rather take a cab or taxi.
Remember South African beaches are alcohol free beaches.
