Kelly Slater will be using all his experience to get on top of the world rankings again.

Chope’s is still not playing ball and after a highly successful event in Jeffreys Bay where the Billabong Pro was fininished within the first four days of the wating period, event organizers at the Billabong Pro Tahiti have called the fourth consecutive lay day.

“No surf today and we’ve called competition off but tomorrow looks like a real possibility,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ve known from the beginning that the forecast we were presented with would be challenging. Swell is projected to increase tomorrow and we could be looking at a Round 1 start in the morning.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Tahiti, are calling for a small, long period southwest swell to build slowly, which will offer a slight increase in size and power.  A better looking swell is lining up for Sunday afternoon and Monday.

The top 10 ranked surfers in the world going into the Billabong Pro Tahiti are:

1 Jordy Smith ZAF
2 Taj Burrow AUS
3 Kelly Slater USA
4 Dane Reynolds USA
5 Adriano De Souza BRA
6 Mick Fanning AUS
7 Bede Durbidge AUS
8 Bobby Martinez USA
9 Jadson Andre BRA
10 Joel Parkinson AUS
