The 21 December will see the Double Mile participants take to water, which is measuring around 23 degrees C at the moment.

The 500 m and bank to bank swims will follow the Double Mile and at 11 am the Women’s Mile will be swam, followed by the Men’s Mile at 12 pm.

On Sunday morning, the gruelling 25 KM swim will start at 7 am, followed by the 10 KM and 5 KM swims, which start at 8 am.

Only pre entries are being accepted for the 25 KM.

Online entries for all the swims can be done at www.swimmingplus.com

Late entries will be accepted on the day, except for the 25 KM. The late entries close half an hour before each event.

The Marina Mile has been a regular event on the Jeffreys Bay summer calendar since 2002 and has been largely responsible for the growth of open water swimming in the Eastern Cape.

Jeffreys Bay now hosts the Metsi Open Water Swim Series during the summer months, as well as the Eastern Province Open Water Swim Champs.

During the JBay Winter Fest, a cold water swim was also held at Marina Martinique in 12 degree water, which established Jeffreys Bay as a legitimate cold water swimming venue.
