St Francis Fire under control – will be monitored to counter flare ups

The St Francis Fire appears to be under control with flare ups being dampened and the wind subsiding. But there are still hotspots on the ground which the Kouga Municipality’s teams are attending to.

There are three choppers in the area as we speak with one in the air at the moment focusing on hotspots in the Cape St Francis area to prevent flare ups around the residential area.

A fresh crew from Working on Fire has arrived and will this evening be joined by fire fighters from Camdeboo and Blue Crane. These teams will monitor the area throughout the night.

Two extra choppers, one from Pretoria and another from Bloemfontein, have been dispatched to the area by the National Disaster Centre.

These have already landed at the Port Elizabeth airport and will be making their way to Kouga in the morning.
