SANDF join Police in Jeppestown raid

The South African Police and the Army conducted joint raids in Jeppestown last night, arresting four people and confiscating illegal weapons in a crackdown following xenophobic attacks in the area.

The raid follows the announcement by Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula that the army would support the police at identified xenophobic violence hotspots.

Four other suspects have appreared in court for the murder of Emmanuel Sithole, a Mozambican man who was stabbed to death in an apparant xenophobic attack.
