RIP Ashley Poobalan

A man who worked for and achieved his life’s dream. That is how Ashley Poobalan, owner of Our Times, will be remembered by colleagues and the many friends he has made over the years.

Ashley passed away suddenly on Monday after a suspected heart attack. He was on his way from Port Elizabeth to his newspaper in Jeffreys Bay with his father- in-law, Chris Ramoo, when he became ill.

He pulled over and passed the wheel to Chris and asked him to turn back home where he had the attack and died.

“Ashley will be sadly missed in Kouga for his caring and generous support to the cause of a better life and circumstances in our communities,” Said Elza Van Lingen from the Democratic Alliamnce

His wife Carmila Poobalan, children Kershia and Kiraano, and the rest of the family say Ashley Poobalan was a dedicated, passionate family man who’s love for his family was only matched by his ambition to achieve his goals and touch the hearts of everyone he met.

His vibrant personality and gracious behaviour will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of people who were lucky enough to have known him.

It is with great sadness that they have to say goodbye to Ashley as he has gone to be with the Lord. He will be sorely missed and the whole family’s thoughts and prayers go out to Carmi and the two children. Rest in peace to a wonderful man.
