The electricity supply to Kruisfontein in Humansdorp has been cut due to the heavy rains and inclement weather. Tokyo Sexwale and parts of Ocean View in Jeffreys Bay have also been affected by power cuts.
“All the municipality bakkies have been sent out to disaster areas in the Kouga. They’re helping people pump water out of their homes, specifically in Sewende Laan, Donkerhoek and Arcadia, and also helping to relocate people where necessary” said Laura-Leigh Randall from the Kouga Municipality.
“If you need help, please approach the municipal officials who will be working throughout the night. Residents from Humansdorp, St Francis and Oyster Bay, are also welcome to contact our superintendent Pieter Felix on 073 079 3267 should they need assistance” added Randall.
There are also warnings about dangerous driving conditions near the Gamtoos River bridge and the road to Aston Bay is rapidly becoming submerged, especially near the speed bumps.
Residents can send in requests for help, photos or flood warnings to email@example.com and we will forward to the Kouga Municipality.
