Big and perfect surf has been predicted for the opening day of the Billabong Pro JBay 2012, and is set to continue through the first three days of competition.
The swell has already arrived in Jeffreys Bay, and the surfers in town are having great practice sessions as six-foot lines pour down the famous Supertubes point.
According to renowned South African swell forecaster Spike from Wavescape, the best is yet to come.
“Tuesday is a world class day of sublime pointbreak bombs,” said Spike of the expected surf. “We can expect 10 foot lines marching in early on Tuesday in lovely light westerly offshore winds, with the swell easing to 6 – 8 foot in glassy seas during the day.”
JBay local Dylan Lightfoot will be in the first heat of the day and will be looking at carving the big walls that will be thundering down the Supertubes reef this morning.
Warren Dean is another JBay local who will be action in heat 3 of the Billabong Pro JBay.JBU wild card Dan Thornton will be surfing in heat 20, Remi Peterson will be up next in heat 22 with Steven Sawyer surfing in in heat 23.
