The “best of the best” in South Africa’s aviation fraternity will converge on Port Elizabeth later this month for the biennial Baywest Port Elizabeth Airshow.
The epicentre of the show will this year be at the Air Force Museum in Southdene, with access via Forest Hill drive.
One of the billings is the Air Force’s Silver Falcons which will woo the crowds with their precision flying, with a local – Major Werner Vermaak – being part of the team.
A wide variety of aircraft, from vintage biplanes to military jets, will take part in the event on the 25th of October.
Scheduled air traffic will continue as normal, which veteran show commentator Brian Emmenis says it will be something rather unique for those attending.
“They get the opportunity to see them and in many cases I can radio patch live to the captains of the aeroplanes. So now children can see and hear aircraft that they normally wouldn’t at an airshow” he said.
