Paris was besieged last night as armed attackers killed people attending a concert at the Bataclan theatre as well as shooting indiscriminately at patrons of the Le Petit Cambodge restuarant and the Le Carillon bar.
An explosion outside the Stade De France where Germany was playing France in a soccer game killed at least another 10 people.
The French president, Francois Hollande was at the soccer game and was evacuated from the stadium. He declared a State of Emergency in France, closed the borders and ordered the army into Paris.
It is believed that about 1500 troops have been deployed to the city.
Eight terrorists died during the attacks, a number of them via the suicide belts they were wearing.
At the Bataclan theatre, where American band Eagles of Death Metal were playing, witnesses saw a number of armed men enter the theatre and open fire on the concert goers.
Julien Pierce, a journalist from Europe 1, said that he saw armed men enter the Bataclan, and two or three men not wearing masks fired indiscriminately on the crowd.
The police reported that an estimated 100 people were killed at the theatre.
It has been a horrific night for France, in what was the worst attack on home soil since World War II.
President Hollande has promised to show “no mercy” in fighting the attackers.
