Humansdorp police are investigating a case of attempted murder, after a learner from Nico Malan High School was allegedly stabbed on a school bus.
A case was opened at the Jeffrey’s Bay police station over the weekend by an 18-year old complainant.
It is alleged there was a group of learners on the bus at the time of the incident, and that the 18 year-old was stabbed several times.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Basil Seekoei, says the student was allegedly stabbed by fellow learners on Friday morning during an argument.
He says the complainant sustained stab wounds to the upper body.
The suspects, aged 16 and 17, will appear in court on Wednesday to determine criminal capacity.
Seekoei says a report will also be compiled by a social worker to determine whether the suspects will appear in a criminal or children’s court.
Both suspects are in the care of their parents.
The headmaster of Nico Malan High School, F.J. Lotz has confirmed that the two boys have been suspended from school for 7 days and that a disciplinary hearing will also take place.
He also confirmed that the boy who was stabbed in the attack has been released from hospital and is recuperating at home.
