The 2013 general valuation roll of properties in the Kouga municipal area has been completed.
The municipality took receipt of the new general valuation roll, prepared by DDP Valuers, on 31 January 2014, as per the requirements of the Property Rates Act No. 6 of 2004.
Municipal Manager, Sidney Fadi, said notifications of the new valuation of properties would be sent out to property owners on 24 February 2014.
Property owners also have the option of registering on the municipality’s website in order to receive the notice automatically by email.
Fadi said the municipality wanted to encourage property owners to register as this would also allow them access to their municipal accounts for better control. An access number is required to register. This is available from Marinda on 042 200 2127 or Regardt on 042 200 2128.
A formal objection period will allow property owners the opportunity to raise queries or object to the new valuation of their properties. Objections must be submitted by 11 April 11. Objection forms will be available at municipal offices and on the municipal website, www.kouga.gov.za, from 24 February.
Fadi said a representative from DDP Valuers would be stationed at the municipality’s valuation office at Jeffreys Bay to assist property owners with their queries and objections.
This service is free of charge, he emphasised.
All objections should be submitted directly to the Jeffreys Bay valuations office only, either by hand, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com, or by fax on 086 570 2737 or 086 523 8133.
Property owners will be issued with a reference number on receipt of their objection.
