The Jeffreys Bay Underwater Club will be exploring a newly discovered reef this weekend. The reef is known as “Caves” and is near the Gamtoos River. The reef is a popular fishing site and the Club is excited about what they will discover at the site.

They will be launching at 08h00 from the J’Bay ski boat club in Diaz Road. Neville Mare, the club chairman can be contacted on 073 788 3724 for more information. Visiting divers are more than welcome to join.

The J’Bay Underwater Club has been operational for over a year and organizes dives every weekend, weather permitting. One of Jeffreys Bay’s best kept secrets is the coral reefs just offshore that can compare with the best in the world.

The Club runs regular beginner courses and also caters for divers who do not have their own equipment. “Ideally we would like to have 10 people on every dive we do”, says Neville. “The Club has the equipment and the expertise and J’Bay offers some of the most amazing dives in South Africa so we invite new divers to join us and experience what the town has to offer underneath the waves.

Already well known for perfect waves and quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the best open water swim venues in the world, it seems J’Bay is soon going to become known as a dive Mecca as well.
