Former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene has resigned as an ANC Member of Parliament.
Nene’s resignation came just days after he was sacked as the Fiance minister in December but was only processed by the office of the speaker last month.
In December Nene was unceremoniously removed from his position as finance minister, a move that saw trhe rand plunge in value and millions wiped off the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
At the time President Jacob Zuma said his name (Nene) had been put forward to head the African Regional Centre of the New Development Bank/Brics bank.
However, it hs transpired that Zuma lied about this appointment.
Nene was replaced by the largely unknown David van Rooyen, who was put in the seat for four days and was in turn replaced by Pravin Gordhan.
