The new look Jeffreys Bay Shell Festival will host the first ever Eastern Cape regional Miss Earth beauty pageant.
Miss Earth will form part of the activities of the Jeffreys Bay Dive Festival, which forms part of the annual Shell Festival.
Miss Earth South Africa is more than just a beauty pageant and is actually a leadership programme and initiative for young South African women. It is at the forefront of creating much needed awareness, empowering and educating young women and children alike.
The Eastern Cape has been identified as a vital province for further exploration, activation and green discovery. “We are very excited to extend our green mark in the beautiful province of the Eastern Cape as part of our legacy journey in 2012” said National Director Catherine Constantinides.
Furthermore she said “The Eastern Cape has been a region that we have not had the opportunity to actively engage with and we believe that our programme will benefit and excite young people of this province and we will leave a positive sustainable green footprint”.
This September sees the call for young women from across the Eastern Cape to enter and take part in an opportunity of a lifetime. This platform will allow young women of society to embrace the challenges we are faced with environmentally as South African’s and as citizens’ of Earth.
Successful regional entrants will make their way to the final national rounds during 2012 which will see them doing extensive green community projects, glass awareness, glass recycling and sustainable living activities.

Eastern Cape regional’s close on the 19th September and the Regional event will take place at the J’Bay Dive Fest and Shell Festival on the 1st October.
