Jeffreys Bay was relatively crime free over the weekend with housebreaking showing a decrease, with Wavecrest in particular enjoying a respite from criminals.

Following a successful operation on Thursday night, no motor cars have been reported stolen and the Police will be continuing to ensure the town is safe from out of town syndicates who come with the sole intention to steal in Jeffreys Bay.

There has been a slight increase in housebreakings in the central part of the town, with Diaz Road and De Reiger streets being targeted.
However, a known housebreaker is on parole and it is hoped that some of the cases will be linked to this person. The western suburbs in Jeffreys Bay are quiet again after a few incidents, and the highly effective neighbourhood watches in Aston bay and Paradise Beach are to be commended for their efforts in keeping their communities safe.

Thieves are still targeting laptops when robbing houses. The most common method of entry is by breaking windows and forcing doors open. Residents are encouraged to make sure their homes are secure when going to bed at night.

The Community Police Forum (CPF) has identified that the phone lines at the Charge Office were not functioning properly over the weekend. If anybody tried to contact the Police over the past few days and could not get though, kindly send an email to kougaswim@vodamail.co.za , stating the time and date the call was attempted.
