Excitement is building in Jeffreys Bay as the town awaits the cast of Blue Crush 2 to make their way down the coast from where they have been filming the sequel to the Hollywood blockbuster Blue Crush.
Well known local and Xcel team rider Lyle Meek was part of the film set and had this to say, “I spend all day in deep water telling a chick not to surf. This is in the middle of the sardine run as well”.
Lyle was asked to fly up and join the cast as an extra. “It was good fun but it doesn’t seem like I have a career in Hollywood” laughed Lyle, who is also sponsored by RVCA “At least my 15 seconds of fame lasted a whole day though!”
The directors of Blue Crush 2 are hoping to have the J’Bay segment of the film wrapped up before the start of the Billabong Pro on 15 July. However, if so required they will be back in town after the surf contest to complete filming.
