Sadie Hansen has been selected to represent South Africa after making the cut in the National Trails held in De Aar recently.
Going into the trials as captain of the EP Senior Saddle Seat Equitation team, an achievement by itself as a 17 year, Sadie progressed through to the final day and was selected for the South African Junior Team.
“The first two days of the trials determines who is eliminated and only 15 riders go through. Day three is the most stressful day of the trials and it’s really intense as the scores are critical and mistakes are not an option”, said Sadie.
Riding her horses Lion King and Triggeletto Sadie advanced to be selected for the Protea Junior team for the second year in a row.
When asked why she loved horse riding, Sadie replied, “When I ride it’s not just riding. It’s a trust i share with my horse, we guide one another, share wisdom and show an understanding for each other that no one else on earth can feel. It is a great treasure to share and cherish”.
Sadie’s goal is to be selected for the senior Protea team and compete in a World Cup. In the meantime she wants to make sure South Africa win the international against America and keep the “gees” going in our country.
