Eskom has admitted that South Africa’s power supply is critical and that rolling blackouts will be implemented countrywide this weekend to save the national grid from collapse.
The announcement comes as reports of a shut down at the Lethabo power station were received.
This has deprived the national grid of a further 1 854MW of power supply.
The Majuba power station is only operating on 70 % capacity, following the collapse of a coal silo at the plant.
Eskom has released the following loadshedding times for the weekend (Sat and Sun):
Jeffreys Bay 20:00 – 22:30
St Francis 16:00 to 18:30
Humansdorp 18:00 to 20:30
