Kouga’s dams are full

While those in Gauteng, the Northern Cape and Free State are facing water shortages brought on by a drought, it seems residents of the Kouga are much better off.

Figures released this week by the Department of Water and Sanitation show that the five dams supplying water to the Nelson Mandela Bay and Kouga municipalities are still close to full.

Dam: Capacity – Volume of water

Kouga dam: 97,9% – 125 910 Ml
Churchill dam: 96,2% – 35 240 Ml
Impofu dam: 99,1% – 105 757 Ml
Loerie dam: 77,5% – 3 026 Ml
Groendal dam: 97,6% – 11 640 Ml
