Kouga Council to decide on Riparian Levy

The Kouga Council will be meeting this morning at 11 am to discuss the once off Riparian Levy that is being proposed for the homeowners living on the canals in St Francis Bay.

Comments and objections only closed to the public yesterday and will be taken into account at the Council meeting.

The other item on the agenda is the controversial appointments of senior directors in the Kouga Municipality. The Mayoral committee made the appointments which is not allowed according to legislation. The letters of appointment were signed by the Mayor, Booi Koerat, which is also illegal.

The Democratic Alliance will be taking court action against the Mayoral Committee should the appointments not be overturned and proper procedures not be adhered to by the Council.
