Jeffreys Bay
JBay woman mugged and murdered in Cape Town

Dawnsy 1A trip to Cape Town to visit her daughter and go to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert ended in tragedy for well known Jeffreys Bay local Dawnsy Mieny.

On the way to the concert, Dawnsy and her daughter took a walk through Bo-Kaap in Cape Town where they were accosted by a knife wielding thug.

A struggle developed between Dawnsy and her attacker and Dawnsy ended up falling down a steep cliff and down into a disused quarry. It appears that she slipped in her efforts to evade the knifeman. The attack on Dawnsy was witnessed and it is hoped that an arrest will be made quickly.

JBay locals have reacted with shock and disbelief at the news. Dawnsy has worked at Billabong for about 18 years and is a life long JBay girl.

She was married to well known JBay musician Sam Mieny , who died two years ago from a medical condition.

The South African Police in Cape Town have confirmed that a charge of murder is being investigated and have appealed for anybody with information to phone 086 001 0111.
