The Jeffreys Bay Mountain Biek Open is set to take place on the 13 July 2013, and the starting and end point for the race will be the Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay.
This years’ event will be a foretaste of the 210km, 3-day stage race that the organisers are planning for next year.
The inaugural event will consist of three rides: the 5km Fun Ride, the Half Marathon and the Ultra Marathon.
The first event of the day will be the Ultra Marathon (85-90km) starting at 8 am. The route will go through 7 farms around the area towards Humansdorp, into and around the mountains and back to the Mall.
It is going to be a tough race with an approximate 1200m elevation, but with 70% fast single track and 1 or
2 hectic downhills, that will test even the most experienced riders and be an excellent training ride for the upcoming Trans Baviaans.
The 40km Half Marathon will start at 8.30am. It’s going to be an exciting, fast race with 1 or 2 obstacles that riders can negotiate to make up some time, or for the less adventurous, there is the slightly easier but longer detour
The 5km fun ride will be for the young and old, and will be nice way to introduce the sport to the youngsters.
The JBay Winter Fest started on Saturday with a highly successful Skins fishing event as well as the cold water swim in Marina Martinique.
