Jeffreys Bay
JBay man commits suicide

johan fourieWell known Jeffreys Bay resident Johan Fourie sadly took his own life on Sunday evening. He apparently hung himself.

Johan was a committed environmentalist and owned the Green Guardian recycling company.

He was a long time local and grew up in Humansdorp and matriculated from Nico Malan in 1978. He was a renowned rugby player who played on the wing for the Humansdorp 1st XV while still at school.

Johan used to joke that he was able to run so fast because he didn’t want any of the big guys to tackle him.

Johan then went on to work at First National Bank before taking on a position in Dubai for a number of years.

He returned to Jeffreys Bay and started up Green Guardian.

Johan leaves behind his former wife Hayley and two children. Funeral arrangements are still to be finalised.

RIP Johan.
