The Kouga Municipality has closed the beaches in Jeffreys Bay following the fatal shark attack that occurred on Friday morning.
This has not however deterred surfers from venturing out into the ocean this morning to catch some waves.
According to Laura-Leigh Randall, spokesperson of Kouga Municipality, the beaches will remain closed until tomorrow morning.
Anybody using the ocean does so at own risk, added Randall.
Lifeguards will remain on duty at Dolphin Beach and a shark warning flag was raised.
There has been no sign of the shark that attacked Burgert van der Westhuizen on Friday morning while he was enjoying an open water swim along the JBay beachfront.
This is the first fatal shark attack ever in Jeffreys Bay.
