Surfers have been catching waves both yesterday and today without any incident.

The Great White shark responsible for the attack on open water swimmer Burgert van der Westhuizen has probably left the area as they are not known to hang around in our waters.

Jeffreys Bay does not have a seal colony which is a Great White’s shark natural food and also where they tend to congregate. Dyer Island in False Bay in one such example.

Success, a massive 5 m Great White pinged in Jeffreys Bay during July, but moved on to Plettenberg Bay a few hours later.

The surf and swim community in JBay are still in shock over the incident that occurred on Friday at Lower Point.
