The Jeffreys Bay surf community will once again get together and have a fun day on the beach in memory of a fallen brother – Manfred Kuttig, who was taken away in 2003 and is sadly missed by many in Jeffreys Bay.
The JBU surf club has held an annual family fun day in honour of Manfy and this year have invited surfers from Port Elizabeth to join them together with the J’Bay Boardriders club in a day of fun in the sun that will see one of the clubs crowned the “Kings of Fun”.
“Manfy had a fun loving nature and that is why we have gone the route of holding events like funny dress surf off’s, tyre throwing, paddle battles and egg tossing”, said Koffie Jacobs, who is organising the day’s activities.
The event will be held at the Checkers car park beach break tomorrow morning and will start at 8 am with a whole programme of events to keep participants and spectators amused.
There will be some serious surfing inbetween the fun and games with legendary J’bay wave rider Warren Dean representing the JBU in the surf event. Big Mike Truswell looking at becoming the king of the tyre throw and Frank Knuckes will be displaying the versatility of his hands in the egg tossing competition.
Lyle Meek is sure to come up with something special in the funny dress while Drue Thysman will be putting his paddling skills to the test in the paddle battle.
See you there!!
