It is for this reason that Jeffreys Bay is one of the venues on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour.

Only the top 34 professional surfers in the world are invited to surf the JBay Open and there are two wild cards allocated to the event as well.

Although there is a waiting period of 12 days, only 4 days of actual surfing are required to run the JBay Open – giving the contest director some opportunity to select the best conditions during the waiting period to ensure the best possible waves for the surfers.

To find out whether the JBay Open is being held on any particular day during the waiting period, one can visit the World Surf League website – www.worldsurfleague.com or visit the JBay Winterfest facebook page.

Daily updates will be provided to ensure everyone will be able to watch the world’s best surfers challenge each other in the long barrels of Supertubes.

The best place to watch all the action is from the beach or the boardwalks at Supertubes.

There are plenty of other events happening in Jeffreys Bay during July.

Check out www.jbaywinterfest.com for all the action – both during the day and at night!
