The festival will be hosted in the Kouga Cultural Centre in Humansdorp from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28.

It celebrates African music, crafts, foods, dance and medicine, with the focus this year being on the Kouga region, says Carleen Arends the director of Arts and Culture for the Kouga Municipality.

The Centre’s doors will open on Friday, September 26 at 10 am, and all are invited to the free presentations and performances.

Seats are limited to 250 people, so it will be first-come-first seated, she says.

There will be stick fighting demonstrations on the Saturday and Sunday, as well as a selection of traditional foods to savour.

There will be a fashion show and cultural performances in the “Best of the Best Kouga Heritage Concert”.

The fashion show was inspired by an upliftment project of the Kouga Municipality. Entrepreneurs from this project will be showcasing their work on Saturday and Sunday during the festival.

The venue for the Kouga Heritage Festival is the Kouga Cultural Centre in Humansdorp, which can be found on the corner of Voortrekker road and Heugh roads.
