The Mexican Restaurant in Jeffreys Bay was cooking last night as it was the venue of the opening function of the 2010 Xcel Pro Showdown At Supertubes.

Invites for the opening function were in high demand after last year’s opening function became the talk of the town.

It not often that the local surf community get together for a good “jol” and the 2010 opening function certainly did not disappoint.

With host Warren Dean safely seeded into the quarter finals of the Xcel Pro, Wozza got down to dishing out the tequilas to the locals, friends and family who cracked the nod to the function.

The waiting period for the event starts on Saturday 1 May and runs through the entire month of May, with only five and a half hours of competitive surfing needed to determine a winner.

The winner of the Xcel Pro gets a slot into the Von Zipper Trials and thus a possible shot at the Billabong Pro World Tour event. Last year the event was won by Ryan Payne.

Supertubes Jeffreys Bay is the venue for the locals only 2010 Xcel Pro. The month of May is the waiting period.
