Warm weather and fun waves greeted the surfers who took part in the JBU Surf Club contest at Tubes last weekend.

With wives, girlfriends and kids enjoying the sun on the beach, the action was just as hot in the water with JBay delivering rippable waves for the first club contest of 2014.

The red tide had dissipated enough not to be a problem and the surfers were able to express themselves in the fun conditions with the contest shifting down to the Point as the waves got progressively smaller.

Shannon Ainslie emerged as the victor in the open division, narrowly beating Kelvin Zemke into second position.

In the Ballies category, Johnny Bakker managed to defeat long time local Glen Bowles while up and coming ripper Cameron Brown won the U/20 boys.

South African champ Angelo Faulkner continued on his winning ways and won the U/16 boys division with Gina Smith winning the Ladies category.
