The world has been stunned by the graphic video of an American journalist James Foley being beheaded by an ISIS militant in Iraq.
A second journalist, Steven Sotloff is in danger of suffering the same fate as Foley.
In the video, ISIS claims they are holding a second journalist who has been identified as Sotloff.
Sotloff is a freelancer who worked for several news organizations and disappeared in Syria in August 2013.
His family have asked people to sign a petition urging President Obama, to take immediate action to save Steven’s life by any means necessary.
Meanwhile, James Foley’s family confirmed his death in a statement posted on a facebook page saying they “have never been prouder of him.”
“He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people,” said the statement, which was attributed to Foley’s mother, Diane Foley.
“We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages.
Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world,” the statement continued.
Foley was abducted in Syria in November 2012, while reporting on the civil war for Global Post
On his way through northern Syria, in Idlib province, his vehicle was stopped by militants. He was never seen again.
Meanwhile, American air strikes have helped Kurdish fighters reclaim the Mosul Dam which had been captured by Islamic State fighters recently.
Kurdish and Iraqi government forces took control of the Mosul dam from ISIS, after days of fighting aided by multiple air strikes from US jets and drones.
ISIS has seized large parts of northern and western Iraq over the past few months.
