A bush fire broke out in Paradise Beach this afternoon and was quickly fanned by a gale force westerly wind.
Houses on Johan Muller Boulevard were engulfed by smoke but luckily the fire did not cross the road where the houses are situated.
The Kouga Fire Department were on the scene shortly after being informed about the fire and managed to contain it without any loss of property or life.
Paradise Beach is partly overgrown with Port Jackson trees and there is always a fire risk in the suburb.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
