The J’Bay Underwater Club will be diving this weekend and will launch from the Ski Boat Club in Diaz Road on both Saturday and Sunday.
Scuba diving in the ocean off Jeffreys Bay is becoming more and more popular with the last few launches enjoying full capacity according to Neville Mare, from the Club.

A puffadder shy shark spotted near Jeffreys Bay

A recent dive that took place at near the Gamtoos River mouth revealed species previously unknown in the Jeffreys Bay waters.
“We saw Bluefin Gurnard as well as a host of new star fish, including Basket Star Fish as big as a dinner plate,” said Neville. “A puffadder shy shark was also spotted for the first time in this area which was awesome to see.”

The reef is about 1.5 km offshore and it takes 15 to 20 minutes by boat from J’Bay. Diving in this area is virtually unexplored by scuba divers and holds much promise of many new reefs and sea life to be discovered.

Dives can be booked by phoning the club on 072 7555 125.
