An elderly couple has survived a harrowing ordeal on their small holding toll acres in Kragga Kamma, Port Elizabeth.
Police Captain Johan Rheeder says the couple, in their 80s, were tied up and assaulted last night by three men in their mid-20’s who broke into their home through a window shortly before 8pm.
Rheeder says the men were all wearing panti-house over their heads to conceal their identity and demanded that the man open the safe.
When he refused, he and his wife were tied up and had boiling water thrown of their heads.
Rheeder says the man then opened the safe and the suspects fled with 4 firearms including a 303 hunting rifle and a 16 bore shot gun.
They also took cash and other items.
Rheeder says the couple was found by neighbours this morning – they did not require hospitalisation and were able to give a statement to police.
