The DA has expressed its concern with the high number of unemployed people in the Eastern Cape.
The pain of unemployment is not simply felt in people’s stomachs but also in their hearts when they lose their sense of purpose and dignity.
The Eastern Cape, with an expanded rate of unemployment of 42, 5%, remains the highest in the country. The Nelson Mandela Metropole, which should be an engine of economic growth, has the highest unemployment rate of all metros, at 33, 2%.
With all its natural assets, the Eastern Cape can be a province of rising opportunity for all.
“We need to restore dignity and hope to the people of this province by creating real opportunity that is uncorrupted by patronage-politics,” said Bobby Stevenson from the DA.
