The co-driver of an truck carrying fruit and vegetables was killed this morning when the vehicle hit a bridge and overturned on the N2 near Van Stadens between Jeffreys Bay and Port Elizabeth.
Police disaster management spokesperson, captain John Fobian, says the driver has been taken to hospital with suspected fractures.
The accident happened at around 07.30 am.
Fobian says produce is strewn all over the N2 and that there’s a total road closure which will be in place for four to five hours while the truck and the spilled goods are removed.
The N2 will be closed at the accident site near Van Stadens and motorists will have to bypass it via the Uitenhage off ramps.
Emergency services and traffic personnel are on the scene.
