Police have issued an identikit of a suspect following the murder of two children in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, this week. They have appealed to the public to come forward with information.
Cousins Yonelisa Mali and Zandile Mali, aged two and three, were found mutilated and dumped in an outdoor toilet.
The suspect is in his early 30s, not older than 34, with a slight build and he is about 1.7m tall. He is light in complexion and was wearing a wool hat.
It is believed that he has different colour wool hats. He has a cut on the lower lip and has a red ring on his left hand and ropes on his left ankle. He is believed to be either from KZN or Swaziland.
Gauteng police spokesman, Brigadier Neville Malila, has appealed to the public to come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“Please pass on information to Crime Line via the 32211 SMS service or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said Brig Malila.
Police have offered a reward of up to R100 000 for information that will lead to the arrest and successful conviction of the suspect.
“To qualify for the reward, tipsters will have to volunteer their contact details when passing on information. All tips will be treated in the strictest confidence,” added Brig Malila.
Head of Crime Line, Yusuf Abramjee, said: “Someone, somewhere, somehow knows where the suspect is. Break your silence. Please pass on information to Crime Line or Crime Stop. Ensure the tips are detailed.”
“The Diepsloot murders have shocked the nation. We cannot allow the attacker/s to roam the streets. Let’s get them arrested,” Abramjee said. “With your information, this suspect will be arrested.”
