The war against crime took a turn for the better during October according to the crime stats presented at the Community Police Forum meeting held at the Jeffreys Bay Police Forum meeting on Monday night.

Housebreakings in Wavecrest have decreased dramatically over the past month and the task force that has been deployed by the Police seems to have been effective. Although there has been an increase in crime in the Aston Bay area, there have been no reported incidents over the past few days.

Theft of motor vehicles remains a problem and the CPF again urges residents, especially in the Wavecrest area to secure their vehicles in garages where possible. Monday and Thursday nights are the nigths when the out of town syndicates come to the town to steal vehicles at present.

Assaults have also decreased in the town and can probably be attributed to the strict policing of the shebeens in the townships.

The Police are gearing up for the holiday season and will be ready for the influx of holiday makers who will be coming into the town over the next two months.
