Charges against Panayiotou’s accomplice have been dropped

The state has withdrawn charges against 31-year-old Thando Siyoni, the alleged middleman in the murder of Port Elizabeth teacher, Jayde Panayiotou.

Siyoni appeared in court on Tuesday where the charges against him were withdrawn after it was confirmed that he will turn state’s witness.

Siyoni, who was a bouncer at Christopher’s Infinity Club, set a trap that nabbed the businessman soon after Jayde’s funeral by asking for more money.

Meanwhile, Jayde’s husband Christopher and alleged hitman, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke are due make another court appearance on Thursday.

Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating the abduction and murder of his wife in April.

Police investigator, Rhynhardt ‘Kanna’ Swanepoel,  stated in earlier testimony that it was sometime in 2014 that Panayiotou had approached Thando Siyoni,  to get a “hitman”.

At that stage Siyoni was not aware who the target was but later it became clear it was 28-year-old Jayde.
