The mouth of the Seekoei River has silted up and the water has once again built up in the estuary, leaving parts of the causeway underwater.
The Kouga Municipality has requested permission to breach the mouth to allow water to run into the ocean but the Department of Environmental Affairs has requested a management plan before they will grant permission.
The Municipality is following the process, which is required by law, however, this will take time.
Residents of Paradise Beach are understandably upset at yet again having to drive over the causeway that is a danger to themselves and their vehicles.
Previously residents took the law into their own hands and manually dug a trench from the mouth of the Seekoei to the ocean, which caused a drop in the water level in the estuary.
