The South African Police have arrested two suspects, aged 23 and 33 years, after they committed an armed robbery, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
The robbery took place on the R 331 between Hankey and Humansdorp on Wednesday at about 11 am.
“Two suspects with firearms accosted two men who had stopped on the roadside for refreshments. The men were tied with cable wires, and their valuables taken.
The two suspects fled in a blue Toyota Yaris,” the police said in a statement.
“Swift police action from Humansdorp and Thornhill led to the arrest of the two suspects in a blue Toyota Yaris on N2 near Thornhill, in possession of the stolen items.
“K9 dogs recovered two firearms hidden in between the engine and the dashboard of the vehicle.”
The suspects will appear in Hankey Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
