American woman raped in Storms River

The South African Police have arrested two men and charged them with the rape of a woman.

The men, aged 25 and 26, allegedly overpowered and then took turns to rape a 47 year old American woman who was jogging in the Storms River, Tsitsikamma area on Sunday.

The men then fled and the victim was taken to the Storms River Police Station where a case was opened.

A search for the suspects was launched and at 7:30 pm yesterday evening, detectives successfully arrested the two men.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Gerda Swart, says the rape survivor is an American national who is currently teaching at an American School in Gauteng.

She says the suspects will appear in court on Wednesday.
