According to the reply, the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) have failed to provide 13 730 certificates. In addition, 38 199 Further Education and Training (FET) certificates have not been issued.
This failure on the part of these institutions to get certificates to students timeously will negatively affect their ability to find a job and to access opportunities with their new skills. Indeed, some students have been waiting for up to six years for this to happen.
We can no longer sit back while their futures are being held to ransom by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and these respective entities.
It is high time that our students receive these outstanding certificates so that they can go into the workplace and take advantage of opportunities available to them.
